Introducing the staff at
Alpine Meadows Animal Clinic
We are very proud of the wonderful staff at Alpine Meadows Animal Clinic. Each person in our team has a deep sense of commitment to each and every animal that comes through our doors. We would like to introduce our key staff members:
Dr. Susan Klein:
As my parents tell it, my dream of being a veterinarian started at 5 years of age. My own memory is one of helping a stray dog with a cut on its ear when I was in third grade and my dream was born. I will always remember the sense of connection that passed between me and that little dog. A band aid and some Neosporin later, he was off to continue his journey now that he had helped me decide on mine.
I spent most of my teen years on the Front Range working and volunteering at various clinics. I received my B.S. in Microbiology in 1984 and my DVM degree in 1988 from Colorado State University. After spending my first four years as a doctor in Long Island, I decided to return to Colorado. I spent a year in Denver working at the clinic where I was a kennel girl in high school. After meeting my future husband with his flea allergic dog, I decided to make the move to the mountains with him. I have been practicing in the Vail Valley since 1995 and started my own practice in 1996. It began with house calls only but has since evolved into clinic with house call capabilities.

Celina:
I always loved animals I just didn’t know I wanted to work with them until life chose that path for me. I helped my first dog when I was I was a junior at Colorado State University studying nutrition. My neighbor at the time found a liter of puppies in a trash can located somewhere in eastern Colorado. I decided so take one (Bailey is her name) off her hands and try to nurse her back to health. At the time I think she was about two days old, her eyes were barely open and her back legs didn’t work. I used my connections at the CSU Veterinarian Program to give me some advice. Long story short, I had to feed her puppy formula through a bottle every 4 hours for 2 weeks (and this was during finals) while everyone I knew was telling me not to become attached because she had a long way to go. Well I didn’t give up and now she’s a healthy 7 year dog that experiences more epic adventures then most.

Thy:
I grew up in Orlando, FL and moved to Colorado 5 years ago. My love for animals did not truly start until my husband and I got our first dog, a chocolate lab name Hershey Bear in 2004. We followed the traditional path of veterinary medicine as many new pet owners do when we initially got Hershey, not knowing any different other than this is what you do when you get a puppy.
Hershey began to have digestive problems at three months old, lots of diarrhea. We tried changing his food, adding rice and cottage cheese but it was only a temporary fix; we were frustrated and worried, asked ourselves what is causing Hershey to constantly have diarrhea. We even called the breeder and she stated that the other pups were fine. Little did we that the whole litter had experienced digestive problems but what good is this going to do us now?
